Em-Orn is a 14 year-old girl who lives in Nong Bualamphu province, the northeast Thailand. When we first met her, she did not smile to us. She had never attended school in her life before she received our scholarship and a child tricycle. In 2005, she started her new life with our support. Since then, she has enjoyed studying at school, where a barrier-free toilet was built in August 2006. Now she talks with her friends with a lot of smiles.

Sriya (10) from Udon Thani Province (December 2003)

Sriya, from Udon Thani Province is now 10. He received his wheelchair from WAFCAT in March 2001 when he was 7. The story of how he became disabled is a shocking one: He was shot by his father with a pistol. His mentally unstable father had decided that the whole family would commit suicide, and shot Sriya’s mother dead right in front of him. He then shot Sriya in the back as he tried to run away. Seeing his son lying there on the ground he turned the gun on himself.
