Main Areas of Activity
WAFCA exists to answer the desires of the disabled children who just want to go outside or go to school. To do this WAFCA buys wheelchairs made by Thai Wheel and donates them to children all over Asia. To date, over 1200 wheelchairs have been sent to children in countries across Asia such as Thailand and Afghanistan. We have also started a free wheelchair maintenance service called “Maintenance Caravan” in Thailand. We have been able to meet with many more disabled people through these maintenance activities. Since 2007, we have donated the wheelchairs made in BJSEDC to the disabled people in China. WAFCA carries out a comprehensive activities to help children attend school in cooperation with the Minsai Center Japan (famous for its Darunee Scholarship). We provide wheelchairs and scholarship money, school environment maintenances and are working on rehabilitation or a repair class of a wheelchair as well as gaining acceptance from the regional and school authorities to support these children who want to attend school.
Other Works
In Thailand and China, WAFCA supports the facilities, where disabled people themselves are involved in the production of wheelchairs. In March 2000, we supported the establishment of the wheelchair producing factory by the foundation for disable people in Thailand, called Thai Wheel, with the cooperation of the Thai government and the local foundations. We support this work through the donation of machines for production and by sending engineers to assist. In Thai Wheel, about 2,000 wheelchairs, which are “for disabled people by disabled people”, are produced every year. In China, we donated the machines for production and supported technical assistance to “Beijing Jupeng Science & Education Development Center (BJSEDC)”. With all this effort, the wheelchair production has started since 2007.
